I feel a lot better about my painting now after painting another layer for the water. I was able to smooth out the splotchy areas of paint and the water looks a lot more blended in now. I tried first painting the right and left sides by slowly darkening the purple undertones as I made my way down. After that, I made a darker blueish-purple for the middle and tried to make a gradient affect as I made my way down. As I got more towards the bottom, I painted more outwards to create the appearance of reflection opening up. Then, I connected the three portions together by blending them as much as possible. The colors of the two sides aren't the same, so that is one thing I need to fix next time. I also plan to paint a few reflections of the clouds, just to further make the water look reflective. I think that by adding the diagonal reflections, it will help make the reflections look more real, as if they really are being spread out across the water. I smudged the mountain reflections even more by adding more short paint strokes. I also tried to not make these so cluttered together, but more spread apart. I'm almost there!
