It's finished!!! Finally! Today, I just did a few touch ups and overall I'm pretty pleased with everything. First off, I added some more light orange and magenta into the top portion of the water. I then tried evening out the layers of paint and blending together the different shades of the water. I didn't work too much on the water, since I decided to do some cloud reflections. I mixed red, yellow, white, and some retarder to get the color that I wanted, then with a small pointed paintbrush, started doing the same dabbing stroke as I had done with the clouds. I often used my ring finger to further blend out the paint and make it less bold. I went back in with a second layer of a more pinkish color to bring them out more, and I also tried elongating them until they faded into the water. To prevent the reflections from looking like blobs, I dabbed on some of the dark purple to fade them out and create a more hazy effect. Though you can't see them very well in this picture, I think that in person the reflections are just the right amount of opaqueness without looking odd. Of course, there are still many other things that I could do to perfect my painting, but I like the way it looks. I think that it's really eye-catching from far away and I'm happy with the results of my first painting of the semester!
