Not gonna lie, it's pretty exciting to finally see my whole canvas covered in paint. Although I still have a TON of work to do, no doubt. I went straight to painting the rest of the lake, making sure that I used a lot of retarder to get really thin layers. The colors look really washed out in the photo, but that is just because of the lighting. However, I definitely plan to paint a few more thin layers to make the water look overly transparent. Though the water does reflect everything above the horizon, I really don't want make my painting look so symmetrical. Since the light of the sunset radiates diagonally, I am going to have to make sure that the different shades of the sky reflecting into the water aren't so horizontal. I also definitely need to do some more blending. The darkest shade of the water needs to be a lot darker and perhaps I will need to paint faint reflections of the clouds above. As for the mountain reflections, I need to extend some of the paint strokes horizontally so that the reflection isn't too visible, but rather more blended out. Overall, I will try to make the water look a lot more realistic and equally as polished as the sky. Pretty pumped for tomorrow's work day!
